ABOUT

“Eric was a blast to work with, both on the musical front and as a person. His technical abilities are just as strong as the creative ideas he comes up with. And he has the voice to match.”

Eric Davis is available for hire as a studio guitarist, both acoustic and electric, bassist, and vocalist for live performances or recorded projects. He has quality gear, reliable transportation, and the ability to record from home. Please email him at ericdavismusicsd@gmail.com for more information.

Eric is a guitarist, bassist, and vocalist from San Diego, California, with over 20 years of experience playing live, locally and on tour, and in the studio. With roots in rock and metal, he was involved in multiple projects in various genres of music, including pop, blues, R&B, grunge, punk rock, and singer-songwriter styles. Eric has worked with many other musicians as a result of immersing himself in different scenes, allowing him the chance to expand on his skills both musically and personally. He is currently enrolled in the Musicians Institute and is studying Guitar Performance.

Eric sang in a choir and multiple class performances during his childhood. It was during this time he would receive his first electric guitar. In elementary school, after watching his sister in a guitar ensemble, Eric became inspired to master the instrument and was given his second guitar, an acoustic guitar. He took the time to figure out how to play the guitar and kept practicing his singing technique during junior high. He sang Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” and Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” for his junior high performances.

Eric would go on to take private guitar and bass lessons to sharpen his skills in his high school years. During this time, playing lead and rhythm guitar with his metal bands Circle of Manias, The Mantle, and Astrologic, Eric would perform at the high school battle of the bands and win second place for two consecutive years, record an EP, and play at numerous venues all over San Diego. He also took the opportunity to play bass in cover bands, covering songs such as Blink-182’s “Anthem Part 2”, Rhianna’s “Umbrella,” Yellow Card’s “Ocean Avenue,” and more. Eric has also had the privilege of performing B.B. King’s “The Thrill Is Gone” in front of a live audience while attending the Musicians Institute Summer Shot program.

Post high school, Eric and his band Circle of Manias took the opportunity to open for the renown, and respected musical acts Scale the Summit and Periphery. When Circle of Manias disbanded, he would accept the role of bassist for the metal band Map the World and played with them throughout San Diego. Eric also experimented with progressive, instrumental metal and wrote a single for his project Inceptionist. He eventually moved to Eugene, Oregon to go to college, but he never put the guitar down, playing gigs on guitar and bass during his summer vacations.

After moving back home to San Diego, Eric started his singer-songwriter project, dawning the act name Eric Davis, and took on the role as the guitarist for the band South Beacons. Eric Davis and South Beacons went on tour together through the west coast and mountain states of the United States. He continues to gig and record music for his ads promoting his personal training career.

With all his experience as a musician, Eric continues to hone his skills and consistently learns new styles of playing guitar, bass, and singing, referring to himself as a constant student of music. When working with others, he is highly professional and will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
